I have a couple of region 1 discs that I have been unable to play on any other Blu Ray or DVD player. Someone suggested this Toshiba Player, as the solution and I have to say that it performs extremely well. I have done some comparison checks with the vintage film Top Hat, running region 1 on the Toshiba and Region 2 on my Sony player. Switching from one to the other, the quality of the image on my Sony TV is far superior on the Toshiba region 1, yet the films are from the same distributor. For the test I also connected the players up by using the scart inputs, rather than HDMI as for some unknown reason the HDMI input always wants to expand the image a little from the 4x3 academy ratio. The Toshiba is fairly simple and uncomplicated if that is your requirement. My final test will be on the big screen, when the digital projector comes out, but I feel confident, that it will certainly not fail to please.
