An exciting tale of the war between Science and Magic,
By A Customer
This review is from: A Handful of Magic (Paperback)
Kit and his friends inhabit London (a slightly different London to the one we know!) In their city magic is predominant. Flying carpets are used for transport, werewolves are on display, and a very important person lives in the tower of Old St. Paul's Cathedral.
Science becomes a force to be reckoned with. Stafford Sparks (the evil scientist)rival's the Queen's Witch Doctor (Kit's Father)for power in the land. For adults the ensuing conflicts are reminiscent of those of the prime Ministers of Queen Victoria's day, and the concerns about the rise of science and all the social changes that it brings surely reflect those of 19th century England.
For children it is a wonderfully exciting story!
