This film has a very unique style to it, which takes a bit of getting used to. For the first 20mins or so, you can't decide if this arty pretentious nonsense or the developement of something special. I certainly thought it was awful to begin with - the sort of overly cinemagraphic arthouse dreadfulness that only appeals to beard stroking types, but stick with it and a dark disturbing story reveals itself. Beautifully filmed with amazing lighting and very creative filming techniques that give a slightly spaced-out and detached feel to the film which complements the story perfectly without being too blatent.
My only reservations were that Sherry, the main character, seemed too strong a character to put up with what her associates were doing for long - I felt that she wouldn't have lasted with 'the group' past her first encounter when they share out the contents of her bag.
With only a couple of slightly jarring but forgivable exceptions the acting is superb, and the story stays on the good side of ambiguous in that there is no spoon-feeding of what's going on, but it's not so vague as to leave you clueless.
This is a very very good film, and I recomend it highly. It will stay in your thoughts for a long time after watching it, and has all the hallmarks of a classic.
