Out of the box, and after connecting cables it booted up from the TV's HDMI to an Android screen. But Wifi connection was intermittent, at times no connection, reporting 'out of range' one moment, then signal 'good' a few seconds later. Tested a Bluray playerat the same location and it was receiving a consistent 3/5 signal. Even on the short occasions the dongle was connected it would not connect to Google sites. Found I had to unlock security settings to allow access to untrustworthy app sites, which included Google Play! There are reports of manufacturing faults causing the aerial wire to short to earth. There is no socket for an ethernet hard wired connection, and if you use the USB slot for the receiver of a wireless hand mini keyboard, there is no possibility of using an ethernet/USB adaptor. Obviously I am not going to take it apart and do the internet recommended (on YouTube) resoldering, so I have asked to return it to PCRobin. Awaiting their response. By the way the picture of the product on Amazon shows a remote in addition to the dongle. This was not included in my box.
Since the above PCRobin have accepted a return and promptly arranged a refund. I think I misunderstood the photo of the product on Amazon. The small piece by the side of the dongle is not a remote, but a cap for the male HDMI connector.
