If you didn't see this live then you won't notice on the DVD as it will be too well edited. Flatley never actually played the flute and the tap noises on the stage were pre-recorded. The cameras at the show zoomed in to his "feet of fire" and they didn't match witht he beats. Made me smile.
A great show though - well put together and awesome production all around. He wasn't alone in the mimes - the fiddlers didn't fiddle and the drummer didn't really drum. They may have been live near the end when they did some solo stuff and that's about it.
Eye candy for the guys as all the girls are just so pretty and well figured. If you have teenage sons then this DVD will provide some late night watching as there are some sexy scenes with nubile young girls with very little on (on occasion for no apparent reason - as a red blooded male even I said to the wife "And that was for what purpose????")
It's strange the guys are not as impressive so the eye candy for the ladies is 47 year old Flatley. And the ladies love him! They screamed like schoolgirls at Sheffield!!
Mike - why didn't you get trimmed off for the show? Yes you are 47 but really - for the tour surely you would have got your weight down. He looked a little chubby for me and that is a shame as it sort of dropped the image which was always so important. Having a large ego (which I reckon has a lot to do with the selection of the not so glamerous male cast) I would have thought he would look super trim.
All in all - just don't expect Lord of the Dance - he can't hit the moves anymore - which as a 38 year old I understand completely - don't get me wrong he is a fit dude and copes well with some outstanding routines. It is no were near Lord of the Dance which he has said is daed and old (don't agree..) this is just a Vegas style production with tapping style dancing. A great show and well worth buying (even if it's just for 14 year old boys..!!!) :)
