Over the north Atlantic a freak mid air collision badly damages a fully laden trans-Atlantic 747 and a US Air Force jet air tanker full of fuel. The crew of both aircraft, whilst badly crippled, struggle on to find landfall at a suitable airfield. Due to exceptional winter weather conditions only Prestwick is open. But because of a secret international emergency, landing is refused. Condemning more than four hundred people to almost certain and horrible death in the icy, blizzard-swept seas. David Hough has produced a real page turner with this tense and suspenseful story. A roller-coaster of a ride from beginning to end. I have no hesitation in awarding it 5 stars.
