1.0 out of 5 stars WARNING: Do not buy this edition! Go for a previous one!, 20 Dec. 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Godel, Escher, Bach: An Eternal Golden Braid (20th anniversary edition with a new preface by the author) (Paperback)
Don't buy *this* edition of this wonderful book.
The paper quality is really bad (the paper is very thin, almost transparent), the whole book has shrunk in size, the text looks really cramped, the margins are smaller than they should be (I guess to save paper!) and to cut a long story short the aesthetic appeal the previous editions had is completely lost.
My recommendation: Try to find a copy of one of the previous editions if possible, and buy this edition if an only if you fail!

I agree this version demonstrates a very poor quality of publishing- the paper quality isn't great, but whats worse is that both covers have immediately curled outwards of their own accord. Shame, as its a fantastic book! Note that BOTH versions which come at the top of amazon's lists are 20th Anniversary editions- the one I have is the 1999 version, where the original image is masked by a vignette (it doesn't say 20th Ann. in the title on Amazon, but it does say it in small text on the book cover itself). Perhaps the newer one (which DOES say 20th Ann. Ed. in amazon title ) is of a better quality. I changed my order on reading this review, but I wish I hadn't now!
