The Thief And The Heartbreaker EP and this CD showcase the magnicent talents of this new band. However, there is something more about this band that I hope will take them a long way. I saw a picture of them in, I think, Classic Rock Magazine, and it was Petter Ericson Stakee's hat, of all things, that just made me think "I'll give them a listen". I was glad I did. I saw them live at Dingwalls in Camden and they were marvellous (albeit ten minutes late) and took a packed club all the way with them from the start. Song Three Blues is an excellent starter, ATX sounds to these ears a bit like Black Rebel Motorcycle Club (which can only be good), the lilting Old Man Chicago instantly sounds like you've been wrapped in a blanket of loveliness, and they even did Rise From The Shadows, track 6, superbly live so showing that Stakee's voice is not autotuned. The title track is probably the highlight in a stunning set of songs. The Dave Matthews Band (themselves utterly wonderful, and brain achingly superb live), chose them to support them this year. DMB are no mugs; you would be a mug not to wrap yourselves in the loveliness of this band.
