A nightmare identity crisis,
This review is from: Lost Highway [DVD] (DVD)
David Lynch, a director already established in his own unique genre, takes his intriguing style of movie making to the next level with a thriller that leaves many questions unanswered. To call it a thriller is slightly misleading because it almost falls into the horror genre, however to put it in a genre at all would be to push viewers towards an inaccurate pre judgement.
The movie begins with a couple facing a series of alarming revelations concerning illicit video tapes that have been made of their home. Upon recieving a video of the protagonist murdering his own wife he finds himself in Jail, only not himself? The movie takes on an almost different story line involving a young mechanic's liaisons with a remarkably familiar woman. Further appearances of a strange and insipid character follow who is inextricably linked to the two stories, or are they one. Approach this movie with an open mind and prepare to be puzzled.
