Customer Review

on 15 January 2006
I bought this CD randomly without having heard any of their music before along with Clan Zu's Rua and Memento's Beginnings. This album was the first to jump out and grab me (Memento's beginning's never actually did). After a while i discovered i had stumbled upon something completely different to anything i had heard or have since found (Even the new Postman Syndrome (Day without Dawn) EP).
The thing about this album is it has something for every occasion and throws out the laws of making an album. The first song which i had on repeat was Hedgehogs Delemma which isin two parts and could be mistaken for a fairy tale (Until the screaming kicks in and the guitar takes a sinister turn). Rotating Crib Toy has so much energy and very subtle lyrics would probably be the song i'd show to people as a sampler but my personal song choices from this album are Amputee's Make Bad Swimmers, Lonely in Your arms, and Interpretive Decorating. Three absolute masterpieces the two later of which are epic.
If you delve slightly further into this album you'll see why this album is so good. Lyrically it is wonderful, and musically it is beautiful. You may argue the screaming is not to your taste but other than that find fault I dare you. I also find this album is best listened to with the lyrics infront of you, otherwise you will miss out on touches of genious like in Interpretive Decorating (amazing poetry is screamed out). Each song has a somewhat twisted and the music is adapted to fit. I think the final thing that should be mentioned about this album is that at the time the Postman Syndrome were a 5 piece and use another musician on a few song (Danielle Valen) which gives the sound so much depth and diversity. If you don't like this album please keep listening and you'll surely fall in love.
Now The Postman Syndrome have changed their name to Day without Dawn who recently released a self titled EP which is a good listen although now a four piece they will find it very hard to create anything like this. Although I also suggest you dig for some of the band's demos such as Watersigns which i feel would not be out of place on Terraforming.
