Promised so much...,
This review is from: PURE Sensia, Digital Audio System with Wi-Fi and Colour Touchscreen - Black (Electronics)
The Sensia had been an object of desire for me for some time and I was able to take the plunge and order one this Christmas. It looked so good and promised so much. First impressions were good - all arrived in good order and the carry case was an unexpected bonus. However, things unravelled very quickly from that point.
Essentially the Sensia teases you with all the things it could do if it actually delivered them - internet and music streaming, the apps, digital radio. When I turned it on for the first time the Digital radio tuned ok (although I later found that it had pretty average reception, depending on location), the Apps box produced a Facebook logo or a Pure advert - tapping either produced no response. The product support either in the box or online was so poor it doesn't tell you how to resolve this issue.
I was really excited when I'd registered with 'The Lounge' and had access to internet radio and the BBC's listen again and podcast material - locating and playing broadcasts was quick and easy and all was well... until the signal dropped, leaving you with no option but to start again. This happened every time I used it, although the timing sometimes varied. After investigation on message boards listed in reviews here on the amazon site, I found that others had experienced all thses problems - while in fairness there were those for whom the Sensia seemed to be delivering against its promise.
I so wanted it to work, but there were no obvious fixes to the problems I was experiencing, so it's been returned. On to the Roberts Colourstream now and hoping for better luck (but without the stunning looks of the Sensia). Come on Pure - sort it out and improve your customer and product support at the same time - these problems have been apparent since you launched the Sensia a couple of years ago and it looks like you've done precious little...
