Jack Pyke have really put some thought into this jacket. There are some great touches to it - like the seat flap and the cartridge/round holders - and is so comfortable to wear. It's extremely quiet to move about in and the pattern is perfect for most woods and hedges in this country. One thing that took me by surprise was the double cuff system the internal one is elasticated with a popper. I thought I'd find this really irritating, but actually it's grown on me. If the poppers are undone, you don't notice it round your wrist, and if they're fastened, they keep out the wind brilliantly. it's not uncomfortable or abrasive on the skin, so full marks there! The pockets are nice and deep with big flaps over the top, so you don't have to mess around with noisy zips to get into them. For convenience there is a zip pocket in the fold of the storm flap, which is perfect for a mobile phone or license papers. It's easy to get to and very deep so if you forget to do it up, things shouldn't fall out.
If I was to be picky, the hood could be better, but it keeps the rain and the snow off, so it does a job and it's not major enough to knock off a star. Most of the time I shoot with hat and a balaclava any, so it probably won't prove too much of an issue!
This is a brilliant jacket. If you need a waterproof coat for shooting, bird watching or whatever this is hard to beat, especially for the money! Well done, Jack Pyke!
