My teenage daughter loves young 'Fred Figglehorn's' light hearted Youtube videos - all squeakie voices, zany humour and childhood angst, so she asked for his CD for her birthday. She played the CD and liked it a lot, saying it's pretty good for both laughs and musical content. FRED Figglehorn [with the R reversed], is a fictional lad who has a dysfunctional home life and "anger management issues". He was created by 17 year old US actor Lucas Cruikshank, who comes from Nabraska. In 2008, when aged 14, Lucas set up the 'Fred channel', and his YouTube channel was the first to have over one million subscribers.
The tracks on this CD are 1. I Wanna Be A Celebrity, 2. Who's Ready To Party?, 3. Tater Haters, 4. Hard To Get, 5. The Babysitter's A Vampire, 6. Girls Are From Uranus, 7. Don't Forget To Brush, 8. Learn How To Drive, 9. Big Bad Bullies, 10. Free Style. Musically you have to be amused by Fred's verbal high pitched 'young boy' rants I guess to enjoy the songs [which we are and do], and the pulsing pop/synthesiser backing music is of a high standard [sounds like Fred's fans include a few decent musicians]. With Lucas's audio speeded up to a higher pitch [to mimic a 6 year old], FREDs voice verges on a modern Pinkie and Perkie or The Chipmunks, although these songs are Lucas originals not covers. My daughters fave track is 'Who's ready to party'. So it's a hit and 4*.
Also check out Fred's festive fun "It's Hackin' Christmas
" mini-album which includes 'A one squirrel open sleigh', 'Christmas Cash (my fave)', and 'Christmas is creepy'. We also bought Lucas Cruikshank's 'Fred the Movie' which was shown on Nickelodeon in 2010. Nickelodeon has created a 'Fred' franchise series for screening in late 2011, and there's the second movie: 'Night of the living Fred'.
