The overall quality is very poor for the price. It is of cheap plastic and the metal parts that are supposed to give security are low grade mild steel. Hardened steel is what you get on a medium budget (i.e. Yale) padlock; whereas mild steel is the kind they make pound-shop ironmongery from. A pair of bolt croppers would pass through the staple like a hot knife through butter. Having to attach it to the bike-frame with cable ties makes it easy for someone to cut those ties and with a bit of jiggery-pokery could get the back wheel off.
That said It's great for parking outside the cafe/corner shop or friends house. I have a low value bike for local hops, I certainly wouldn't use it to leave my bike for extended periods at work. I use a proper D lock for that. For my purposes it works fine but I just wish that vendors would be honest enough to let people know that this is not a serious security item. After seeing the quality I would not spend any more money on the extra chain or cable. The idea of a plug in cable does appeal, but the place where it plugs into looks as substandard as the rest of the device. I will stick to my original loop end cable passed through the staple. This will also make it harder to get a bolt cutter in there too.
As this really is little more than a toy I think insurance companies may have reservations about paying out if the bike is stolen too.
If you need security go for a decent product like a D lock,
