Customer Review

on 28 July 2010
Not long to go until the finale, I watched this series as a die-hard fan, right through to the anti-climatical end. What can I say? There is so much about this series that veers away from the tried and tested Dallas formula - not only do J.R. and Bobby become the best of friends, but J.R. becomes happily married to Cally, a young lady who sets back feminism by about, well, three hundred years. The Ewings become united in their war against their new neighbour, and us Dallas fans love a good war. However, new characters such as Tracy and Tommy don't really have any charisma. There was so much I missed about the Dallas of old, not least the fued between J.R. and Cliff. Cliff was hardly used in the last few series of Dallas which was a shame - his crackpot schemes and vulnerability made him a central character. The high points? Well the romance between Bobby and April rings true, and should have started sooner. And even though Don Lockwood (old Lovejoy himself) stands out a mile I love watching him onscreen. Lastly, this series was Swellin's swansong, and I shall miss seeing her in future episodes. All in all, this series is for Dallas addicts who remained loyal to the show right through to the final season.
