As with all battery doorbells, you need to change the batteries. The problems specific to this particular model are that:
1 It isn't clear when you need to do so and;
2 The thing that holds the battery in place in the bell-push unit seems very flimsy.
To address 1 in a little more detail, there is no battery indicator on the chime units (which use their batteries quicker than the bell push) There is a chime button which appears to work as a battery test but that continues to work for ages, whereas the receiving power of the units falls off quite quickly. By way of example, one of my units was still chiming merrily when the button was pressed, even when its range had been reduced to less than 15 feet in a direct line of sight.
In all probability, the first notice you will get that the batteries need changing will be a build up of "while you were out" cards. If you really need portability I'd look for one with a battery level indicator - otherwise get one that plugs in.
