Unusual, special and fascinating,
This review is from: Herd: How to Change Mass Behaviour by Harnessing Our True Nature (Paperback)
Here's the thing. I work in research & development (R&D), so a book like this is clearly not aimed at me. After all, there are 'points for marketeers to think about' at the end of each chapter.
Having said that, I should say that I absolutely loved it!
In a very witty style, over a manageable number of pages, Mark Earls crams in a huge number of very important observations on ourselves as 'super-social apes' and then leads them, by way of truly broad and enlightening examples, to practice in the world we live in.
Impressively, there is plenty of background basic cognitive and basic research underpinning the book, all properly indexed so you can look it up later if you like.
As you go through, the thought builds up in your mind that the theories proposed are applicable to family interactions, society today and government policy. Probably more.
I would strongly recommend this to anyone in a field of communications, or just looking for a good, stimulating read.
