I've read a couple of reviews on this site and both gave this 1 out of 5. Then I read a few more giving it 5 out of 5 and the best album ever. I shall try and be objective. It is not the best album in the world, but it certainly is not anywhere near as bad as the 2 reviews I read on here made out. Yes, the songs do sound similer, but is that always a bad thing? I suspect it is if you don't like one of the songs but for those of us who do, it's not a bad thing. If I want to hear a different style, I put on another CD. Simple. Obviuosly the massive success of You're Beautiful has catapulted Blunt to fame before he's really achieved anything and this always attracts the critics. The album is a bit short, only 10 songs long, but I would say the opening 5 tracks are very strong. To say this is elevator music shows a distinct lack of musical knowledge. But it isn't the album of the century either. It is a good album if you like heart tugging, acoustic male vocal songs. If you don't then don't buy it. Some albums transend genres and people who wouldn't ever listen to a certain style find themselves buying the album (like Oasis' Definately Maybe), this is not one of them. Buy it if you like this style of music, it is not life changing, essential or going to be remebered like Sgt Pepper. But it is well written, enjoyable and a good album. Just ignore the hype.
