But 'Slan Hunter' is a travesty, with basic factual errors, bad or non-existent characterisation, and awful plotting.
Anderson may have read 'Slan', but if so he has failed to remember much about it. The palace looks different, the Martian city has changed, Slan tendrils now only appear at the back of the head, Jommy no longer remembers the science he worked out in the first book, the tendrilless slan council now calls itself the Tendrilless Authority (a daft name!), Jommy is now given full credit for saving Mrs Corliss's life on Mars, and somehow she knows about it, etc, etc.
And it's not just Granny who has had a brain transplant - every character who appeared in 'Slan' and makes a reappearance in 'Slan Hunter' has changed, with most of them appearing to have dropped fifty or so IQ points.
This book should never have been published, and will disappoint any reader, particularly if they have read 'Slan'.
