Prog metal that demands and deserves the full attention of both of your ears, plus near all in between!
First heard of To Mera through seeing Marcela Bovio (Stream of Passion)recording violin for "Exile" on the SoP website: recommendation enough to go give this a whirl
The album sounds not unlike her current Dutch band in some passages but also reminds of Elfonia (her earlier very different Mexican outfit)in others: heavy riffage along with some surprising shifts in time signatures , then surprises even more when it trips in and out of dreamy jazzy sonic landscapes -the 8 tracks average 8 minutes each, without any sounding in the least too long
Julie Kiss' vocal style could also up to a point be compared with Marcela's- which is more than fine by me! Given the album title, her lyrics hint at an auto-bio concept running through the work (Julie formerly fronted Hungarian prog-metal band Without Face before resurfacing in the UK).
Recommended, also definitely a new addition to my "bands to catch live" list!
