Expensive but very nice product,
This review is from: Joseph Joseph Nest Compact Storage Containers, 6-Piece Set - Multi-Colour (Kitchen & Home)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine Programme (What's this?)
It's difficult to get really excited about plastic food containers, but these cute and colourful ones from Joseph Joseph are at least good to look at.
I had a new kitchen 3 years ago, and foolishly opted for a small fridge. As we eat a lot of fresh food, and this invariably takes up a lot of space, I am constantly juggling stuff around in this undersized fridge.
Next time I will specify a much larger fridge, but in the meantime I am using storage boxes of varying sizes to keep things in order.
These Joseph Joseph boxes are cheerful - with brightly coloured lids - and easy to spot amongst the piles of stuff.
They also help keep more fragile items safe from being knocked about - tomatoes and mushrooms for example.
I am now pre-preparing boxes full of cut items - sliced tomatoes, mushrooms, lettuce, cucumber chunks, etc. Combining this with a set of menus for each week and the JJ boxes do make life a lot easier.
The lids fit together in a neat stack, with the lugs on the lids clipping together so you don't have the curse of "lost lids" and then the containers nest together underneath. There are small coloured dots on the containers which correspond to the lid colour, so no lid matching problems here.
The whole thing comes in a sturdy card box, so you could use this as a storage method for times when you aren't using them.
As all my containers are now fully used and stacked in my fridge, I have sent the box off for recycling - let's hope I don't regret that move later.
They seem to be 'everything' safe, and have friendly rounded corners. The lids snap in place easily and I think they are waterproof - but I'll hold off on stacking them upside down full of beetroot on my favourite armchair to test that theory for the moment!
The only downside I can see is the price. At about £40 for 6 boxes they are not cheap items to buy.
However, they do seem to be of a very high quality, and they do serve a genuine purpose very elegantly, so I guess I probably would pay this for a set.
