Verified Purchase(What is this?)
This review is from: Toshiba Chromebook 13.3-inch Chromebook (Intel Celeron 2955U 1.4 GHz, 2 GB RAM, 16 GB SSD, Google Chrome OS) - Silver (Personal Computers)
If you're looking for a new laptop for e-mails, browsing & watching videos and everyday general use, then this comes highly recommended.
Great screen, fast and responsive, user friendly. Battery life is fantastic, runs cool - passive cooling so quiet as a mouse.
I'm very impressed, so much so that I've bought one for myself after buying one for my wife as a gift yesterday.
Benchmarked it against my 2 year old laptop running Linux (which was no slouch) and it is twice as fast. You really can't go wrong for the money. So glad I opted for this rather than a tablet, well done Toshiba.
Toshiba seem to have quality control problems with this laptop. My chromebook arrived and the mousepad was unresponsive with the charger connected. OK, no problem, replacement ordered by Amazon's great customer service as per normal.
Replacement arrives 3 days later only to have exactly the same fault on the mousepad. Someone needs their head knocking at Toshiba. Therefore, I cannot recommend this laptop as I've given up and requested a refund. If you're luckier and get a working one then it's still a cracking buy, but is the quality there?
Downgraded my review from 5-stars to 3-stars, which I think is fair.

A PC Advisor article also highlighted issues with the trackpad on every unit they tested so this appears to be a standard problem.

I have this Chromebook, its my first chromebook and the first laptop I have bought for 4 years. When it first arrived I thought the trackpad was dodgy but now I don't have any problems with it. I don't know if it was actually dodgy or if I just wasn't used to the design at first.
But like I said, I have no problems with the trackpad, and no problems with any other part of this chromebook. Very good for the price, I am sorry that you have not had such a good experience.

Trackpad seems to be a problem. Google toshiba trackpad problem just to find out this is achilles of this chromebook. It shame considering how good this device is otherwise.

I've read a few concerns in this area and went the HP alternative which is a similar spec / price but comes with 4gb mem no issues at all.

My Samsung Chromebook has the trackpad problem while charging too! Very annoying! I read it's to do with the wiring in your home that causes it!
