I read on IMDB that the trailer for this film gives the game away so if you fancy it avoid the trailer. I didn't see the big reveal coming at all and its quite a suprise when the film changes direction. The only problem is that when it does the rest of the film just doesn't live up to the build up. The basic story is about an editor resigning to write his novel in his dream house with his lovely family in the country. He discovers a stranger lurking outside the house at night and a group of kids re-enacting a murder in his basement. This leads to him discovering that the previous occupants of the house were all murdered but why is everyone so unhelpful when he tries to find out the truth about what happened? I can't get past Daniel Craig being James Bond as he is a little one dimensional and makes no effort to put on an American accent as opposed to Mrs Craig aka Rachel Weisz who does a pretty good one and gives a good performance as his screen wife. A practice run perhaps? Naomi Watts is also good and the kids are great, especially when the little one keels over. There are no real scares in this movie, just a build up of tension and the denouement is totally predictable but overall its a watchable movie for a quiet evening when the option is Celebrity Big Brother!
