I have never played a combat sim before (well never since army rangers on the PC), so thought I'd jump in and check out what the current generation of consoles had to offer.
Graphically the game is very impressive - realistic, and bordering on hyper-realistic at times.
It keeps a very good frame rate on 1080p, and the action ticks along quite well.
Its a lot of fun - until an insane situation pops up, and there seem to be a lot of those.
When you are advancing on the enemy in deep cover, the game stands up very well, but in those intense battle scenes, it becomes a little farcical - there is no overarching strategy, and little in the way of tactics and planning - just a constant advance.
There is so much happening sometimes that its hard to know whats going on.
I suppose the franchise is obligated to fully depict the insanity of war, and if this is indeed its aim, it succeeds.
This is a game for the battle hardened, and for those who want to hone their combat instincts outside of the theatre of war.
