This book is hugely disappointing. I bought it for my son as we thought "The Gruffalo" and "Room on the Broom" were brilliant. The illustrations are good, but there is very little narrative, characterisation or indeed anything to sustain a child's interest, never mind the grown up who has to read it to them. Yes, they can rhyme and it has a certain musical quality, but clearly the writers have just run out of ideas and are capitalising on the success of "The Gruffalo". If this book did not have the sticker "by the writers of the Gruffalo" slapped across it, I doubt it would sell. The only puzzle is now why did I buy it? A complete waste of money and a rip off. The writers must be counting their money and laughing a the poor parents.
