Much as I like Top Gear and most of the presenters' spin-off programmes, as they themselves say, Hammond is the most 'Mr Daytime' of them all. I read the sample to his "Or Is That Just Me?" book, which was pretty terrible in every respect. This is a vast improvement - the writing style is more prosaic, more readable, looks perfect on the Kindle and is almost enjoyable. Somehow, for someone with so many interesting experiences to write about, Hammond manages to focus on the smaller details in an attempt to rustle up some humour, which never quite works. I almost smirked a couple of times during this, but I think he'd probably be better writing the same thing in a more serious less-schoolboyish tone.
