Compared to most other acoustic singer-songwriters, Dubliner David Kitt seems to exist in an alternative universe. Kitt once again avoids the saccharine and schmaltz of his peers on Not Fade Away while retaining the essential lush romantic fullness that has characterised his output since 2001. From the driven crispness of One Clear Day to the airy atmosphere on Up To You through to the upbeat punch of Say No More it's an album brimming with inventiveness. Kitt's knack for creating blissed-out pop hooks and the occasional backing vocals from The Magic Numbers make Not Fade Away so refreshingly three-dimensional.
