I was attracted to reading this book having read the author's similar book about apple pie (which I really enjoyed.)
'Hamburgers and Fries' is a similar book, looking at how burgers came into being and variations on the burger theme which can be found through out the United States. For example, the steamed burgers of Connecticut, the way they put peanut butter on the bun in Cleveland or the sweetened burger meat of some states. There is less concentration on fries than the title suggests.
On the whole, this is an entertaining little book, which includes some recipes that can easily be produced in the UK (none of the ingrediants are too specialised.)
