BUGS AND FAILED PATCHES :(,
This review is from: Fight Night Champion (Xbox 360) (Video Game)
EA released this game back in March. They clearly hadnt tested it because upon purchasing I discovered that it was riddled with bugs. The legacy mode crashed my console several times, you couldnt import created characters into legacy mode and all the boxers you encountered took far too many flush hits before going down. Within weeks EA released a patch to fix some of these problems. The gameplay improved significantly but the bugs still persisted. Finally on the 28th of June (almost three months after the game was released) they finally released their final patch to fix the game. Unfortianetly I have this final patch and the bugs still persist.
1. The game will freeze if you attempt the "spar with the champ" feature.
2. The game will give all your imported boxers the same face.
3. Sometimes you are only given time for one training session instead of two for important fights.
4. If you dont move weight classes when first offered the game will crash when you do try to accept the email.
There are others but these ones are thhe main ones that still persist. To have any bugs at all after three patches is pretty pathetic. This game clearly had no extensive testing of any kind. It is effectively broken out of the box and wiithin minuetes you can find bugs so how did EA not find them?
The other annoyance of this latest patch is that it has basially ruined the game for offline users. To try and conter spammers who would hit and run when with the same punch oever and over when playing online, EA altered the gameplay so that if you move your boxer backwards you instantly lose stamina. This is a huge problem because it means if you are a defensive boxer like Mayweather, Jones or Ali and like to move back alot your boxer will be in an exhausted, zombie-like state within four rounds.
Offline play with the legacy mode is now ruined bacause the AI will run out of stamina within four rounds. I used to play on "pro difficulty" and had a boxer with a 31-0 record and 25kos. On the new patch im 23-0 with 23 ko's (all in the first two rounds). If you dondge the AI attacks with your gaurd up they will now not be able to hit you and you can knock thhem out any time after the forth round on any difficulty. I tested this by playing on the "g.o.a.t" difficulty setting by Ko-ing Tyson in 4 rounds with Klitschko and then Lennox in 3 rounds with Roy Jones jr. There are many youtube videos from frustraied games that also demonstrate this. So in offline legacy mode is now unplayable and online is simply a case of who's stamina runs out first. Some players on the EA FORUMS are holding out for a new patch. Having holded out since March for the june patch I am not holding my breath that this game will ever be fixed. I only hope they might release a tunner to fix the stamina issues in offline play but I seriously doubt it. Will I buy Fight Night round 6 if there is one? No and if you dont own this game I wouldnt bother buying it. However if you dont own Fight Night round 4 then purchase that because it's patch actually fixed it.
