Customer Review

This is a very intelligent and intriguing book, and one clearly written by a highly talented author who deserves proper recognition. It would not surprise me to see this as a bestseller! It has so much depth to it, and offers insights which are in themselves revelations....

Once the book is opened, we are carried away into a world which is both tantalising and fascinating. We are taken down corridors of human experience, all unlocked by keys. This is a journey that is both exhilarating, and thought provoking. There is nothing more interesting than the sort of book that makes you want to go to the next page quickly....and that is the secret of this book. It simply makes you want to find out more. The pace is just right, as we race through experiences which are both dazzling, and also surprising- yet, 'The Braille Club' has real depth to it.

'The Braille Club is like any exclusive set', the writer suggests, and in many ways this sets the tone for the novel. It reminded me of ' The Great Gatsby' on some levels- a journey into a form of hedonism, and into a way of life so intriguing that only few venture into- there was a rollercoaster ride on offer from start to finish. This is a world where those who dare, try to win and it is an interesting exploration of the themes of masculinity and femininity. It is a world where being bold is a character trait which is welcomed, as secrets are unlocked.

The novel is pure dynamite in terms of having an explosive presence, which makes it a 'must read' type of novel. I wanted to read more and more when I had finished it, and I am looking forward to the sequel if there is one!

Brilliantly written, you feel that you are part of the action, as the author takes you down a route which simply blows away the imagination. The zones that have been invented by J.A. Kerr are like a 'brave new word', based on being able to configure a totally different path, each bringing with it new excitement... Often highly fascinating, this novel has you sitting on the edge of your seat as it thrills and entices...

'Member games are fiercely competitive as the rewards for winners are substantial..' writes J.A. Kerr, and this book is written with the reader in mind throughout; the psychological maze that we enter into being both dazzling, and also unnerving. This creates a cocktail of emotions, as the author explores the human psyche along the way....

This is a book that shines out, the talent of the writer and her ability to entertain in a post-modern way really dominates the book. 'The Braille Club involves, at times, humour and pastiche, yet also raises serious questions partly in terms of morality, yet also in terms of what drives people to want to indulge in pleasure. It therefore has an intellectual integrity and the message is multi-faceted, offering insights into modern society, and offering examples of how people become drawn into experiences which they would only normally fantasise about. I don't want to spoil the plot by revealing details, but it a truly wonderful book to read....

I found it hard to put this book down, and I would certainly recommend it to others who wish to escape into another world, and who love the feeling of dipping into an intelligent and well written novel. Compelling and enigmatic at the same time, Kerr manages to bring together a novel that captures the imagination, and which brings characters to life in a most enthralling way.

Wonderful! This is one of those clever books that keeps you thinking about it many hours after you have finished reading it!
