This review is from: For the Love of God: The Bible as an Open Book (Hardcover)
This charming and wonderful book whose author studies Hebrew scripture from the point of her own Jewish background and perhaps more importantly from the point of view of a woman is a delight.
It discusses some selected books of the Old Testament (Ruth ,Jonah,Job, to mention just some) in a simple , very readable style. Expounding new and at times radical views of the meaning of such texts within the canons of both Judaism and Christianity. The authors style is lively and erudite.
I would certainly have given this book a 5 star rating but for the fact that it is a slim volume at a very high price, which is a shame as it deserves a much wider readership. I look forwardr to the more affordable paperback version should one be planned!
