This review is from: Shamanspace (Paperback)
To put my credentials on the table -- I'm a fan of Steve Aylett. I like his writing style, and have enjoyed all his earlier stuff.
So I'm used to Aylett's books not being the easiest of reads. Usually they're well worth the effort. Shamanspace, however, is so opaque as to be unreadable. In fact, it's one of the few books I've ever thrown away out of disgust.
Usually Aylett's writing sizzles. In Shamanspace, every other line just falls flat. The line spacing and margins are odd to try to disguise the fact that the book is a bit light on actual content. Usually I read Aylett and get a feeling for how much work and effort he's clearly put into it. This felt as if it was knocked out in a weekend or two.
