Well. The book itself is fantastic, could not put it down. It was thoroughly enjoyable & clear even though my first language is not English. It's well written, yes, by a female author, hence the toe curling phrases in the second half - as someone has already mentioned it in an earlier review. (But then again, tastes vary, don't they?) Also, it's a lot more historically (and story-wise too) acceptable & most of all credible than those utter nonsenses conjured up by Philippa Gregory on the same subject.
However! The 3 stars are not for the book, they're for the Kindle edition. I don't know who typed it up, or - above all - who proof-read it before it went to publishing, but it's heaving with spelling & grammatical errors. As I mentioned above English isn't my first language but even I noticed them! The book is nearly a thousand pages long and I could find one on almost every other page, sometimes more. I don't understand why they were so slack with it... This is just pure lack of care.
