3.0 out of 5 stars nice book but abit of a disappointment, 22 Mar. 2005

This review is from: Good Night, Gorilla (Oversized Board Book) (Board book)
i was somewhat disappointed with this book. i wanted a nice goodnight story for my 2 year old son and judging by the title and other reviews i thought this book would be perfect. the idea of going around the zoo to say goodnight to the animals is sweet, what i didn't realise was that half of the pages in this book just has pictures and the only text consists of saying goodnight. i just expected a little bit more. probably better for the younger child.

I think this review misses the point of the book. A youg child can follow the story on their own as it has little text. All my childen have loved it and crawl up the bed under the duvet copying the gorilla in the story. It's just brilliant.

Also, my 19 month old daughter loves this book because I fill out the story by using my own words and explaining to her what is going on and making it interesting. It is not just a matter of reading what's on the pages, using some imagination goes a long way.

Thank you for the review, that was exactly what I was worried about- my 2 year enjoys books with rhymes and text, a book with mainly pictures is not for her.
