Having read all the hype I thought that the Kobo Touch would be the ideal alternative to the Kindle. Granted it is slim and maybe I have been unlucky, but the first Kobo had a software fault so I had to take it back and get a new model. This worked but when I signed on to the Kobo site their software changed every single icon on my PC to Kobo! Having resolved that issue, I finally managed to download a book or two. So far so good. Unfortunately I soon discovered how 'temperamental' it was. You can be happily reading the book, turning pages, and then the Kobo quite randomly starts turning back. At one stage I ended up two chapters back from the page I started on. It is quite frustrating. You can tap lightly, swipe, tap firmly - nothing works consistently. It refuses to access any of the icons from the home list and for half the time it can actually refuse to access any book at all. I fear it was a huge waste of money. Kobo themselves failed to respond to a request for help on the subject so in my case a big thumbs down!!

I think you have ended up with a faulty one - I've had my Kobo Touch for nearly a year now and have had no problems at all with it - indeed it is a pleasure to use.

Perhaps the battery charge is/was running out. Both Kindles and Kobos become erratic on a very low battery. If that proves not to be the case with you, I too advise returning it.
