When writing reviews for Amazon, I first like to clarify the product as quite often there is confusion about different versions. There are numerous CDs of The Wizard Of Oz, they are with the exception of one taken from LPs and 78s. Depending on the care taken with the mastering they can sound ok or dreadful. The best one (This one) is the Rino/MGM version, released on Warners in the states, and Sony in the uk. There is minor differences in the front cover design, but they both have the same photo of Judy pointing an index finger in the air, behind the suprised lion, scarecrow and tin man. The CD has been carefully re-mastered from the original tracks preserved in the MGM vaults, many of the songs are extended versions, there is even the odd out-take. There is a 12 page booklet about the film and music, and lots of photos. Its a shame they decided to issue the CD in mono, when the DVD/BluRay has 5.1 sound. (Yes even in 1939 movies were recorded on multiple tracks, then mixed down to mono for the film. Anyway back to business, the sound in fine, you have all the songs, and a good bit of the background score. Buy this version and don't waste time on inferior products.
