5.0 out of 5 stars Greatest show ever?, 29 Jun. 2007
This review is from: The Complete West Wing: Seasons 1-7 (44 Disc Box Set) [DVD] (DVD)
The West Wing has got to be the best drama ever to appear on television and in the top three shows of all-time.

From the pilot, the storylines, scriptwrting and acting simply blow you away. By the end of the first episode you find yourself connected to the show in a way that rarely happens. There are very few bad epsiodes and only season 5 is disappointing overall. For us non-americans watching there are some very patriotic and sometimes over the top "God Bless America" moments, but I suppose that was inevitable with it being about American politics.

I think one of the reasons the show has been so successful is because it took place alongside the Bush Administration, and comparing the two, almost anyone would prefer to have Bartlet in the Oval Office. Its a kind of "if only" scenerio.

Just buy it and be ready to give up a large portion of your life to it. Superb.

Bookworm says:
Broadcast mainly in the George W Bush era, yes, but almost certainly planned in the 1990s before that particular piece of lowlife dragged American politics and with it the United States' reputation in the world through the sewer. Certainly, access to the White House for the design of the interiors would have had to be in Bill Clinton's presidency because the Bush mob were even more secretive about inside the Executive Mansion than an earlier Republican crook, Nixon
