I really enjoyed Picano's "Like People in History" and was a little disappointed by the first 40 or so pages of this; it was too 'literary' for my taste. The style was getting in the way of the story. But I'm glad I persevered. Much of the book has to set the scene, detailing the lives of the authors the protagonist is obsessed with. Once Picano has set things up, the last part of the book is a shocking surprise. I won't say anymore...
