Worth for the text, not for the pictures,
This review is from: Orientalism in Art (Hardcover)
A scholarly work, perhaps best read as a library book. Contains a few thoughtful insights, especially on Gerome. The choice of illustrations and their quality (colours) was a major disappointment. Davies' The Orientalist is much better for images - the selection, quality of the printing. Peltre's book looks nice and imposing - until one opens it. Rather I had not bought it myself.
