This review is from: CEL MultiPRO 240-Volt AC Oscillating Multitool MT3 (Old Version) (DIY & Tools)
What a fantastic handy little tool from what is, in my experience, a great little UK startup company. Not many people have heard of CEL yet but this particular tool competes directly with the consumer grade Bosch ( Bosch PMF 180 E Multifunctional Allrounder: Cuts, Saws, Sands ) and the more professional grade and original version of this type of tool, the Fein Multimaster.
It's an oscillating multi-tool with all manner of different available attachments. The fact that it oscillates (rather than rotates, say like a Dremel multi) generally means you end up with less mess sprayed out when you're working. Dust from whatever you're doing lands neatly out of the space from which it came rather than being thrown into the air.
The tool essentially has two functions, cutting or sanding. I'm vastly generalising here though, it can cut metal, wood, plastic and all sorts of other materials (including raking out grout which is what I've used it for mostly so far) as well as sanding with all manner of different grade pads and rasping too. The accessories are generally well thought out and look to be quite interesting shapes but that actually really helps you when working to get into awkward corners and such like that would normally be difficult with a power tool
There is a full range of accessories ( CEL Multi-tool Full Accessory Pack, 64pc ) sold together as a pack or separately. What I like about the CEL is that the accessories are that much cheaper than the Bosch or Fein products. Also, the Bosch will only take accessories manufactured by Bosch themselves where as the MT3 accepts accessories from other manufacturers. This includes Bosch accessories, CEL supply a Bosch accessory adapter in the box so if the small UK startup company weren't to survive you're not stuck with a tool you can't buy accessories for as you can always revert back to Bosch accessories.
Regarding the point about having a boxed product (from one of the one star reviewers). This particular version is not advertised as coming boxed or indeed with more than the very basic accessories. Other packs are available such as the one I purchased directly from CEL which include the tool itself, the accessory pack and a box to shove it all in and carry around too.
I really think the guy who came up with this and the other CEL tools could be another James Dyson given time. Wishing him and his company (no, I don't work for them) the best of luck. A truly great product.
