This is an honest and interesting account, told in a diary style, of a man who lived through and took part in a period of great change in Britain; from the Edwardian era, through the First world War, the optimism of the early twenties to the difficult thirties and forties. Events great and small are all covered with the same easy going written style. Some reviews have suggested that this book might benefit from some professional editing - I disagree. A great deal of it's charm is in it's honest and straight forward style. Worth reading.
