I've used the camera for all sorts of shots from family snaps to landscapes while walking Hadrians Wall and it has never disappointed me. This is the camera I take with me pretty much every day, be it in a jacket pocket at the weekend or my rucksack going to work. Because it's there I get to take photographs that would otherwise not happen, because it's small I can carry it where a DSLR would be too heavy and/or intrusive. None of my previous compact digital cameras have had such an impact, so what's different, think it is down to the following;
Image quality, the prime lens is very sharp and the colour balance is good. Add to this the ability to take 48 bit/pixel RAW images and the results can be very impressive. For such high resolution from a small sensor the noise is no worse than the competition and can be easily managed using tools like Photoshop.
Robust construction, the feel, handling and build quality are all superb, gives one a lot of confidence in the camera.
Flexibility, you can set the camera in anything from programme to full manual mode giving control of all aspects of the shot. The well thought out controls means that it practical to do this as all aspects of the shot can be set without resorting to complex and time consuming menus. Yes the lack of a zoom can be limiting at times, but more often the simplicity lets you concentrate on taking the photo.
