I came across the 'Future Kings Of Spain' purely by chance. I found myself singing track 3 'Venetian Blinds' on and off for a few days after it was played on SKY Sports Soccer AM. I had noted the bands name and attempted to locate an album. Obviously I had no luck because this was a month or two prior to the release of the album. I did however lay my hands on a promotional copy and can say I’m lucking forward to getting an official copy. 'Face I Know' is a powerful rock song with good guitar play and vocals with occasionally screeching not to dissimilar to 'The Vines' hit 'Get Free'. 'Hanging Around' is features high tempo guitars and drumming and is a very upbeat song with good vocals. 'Simple fact' is a slow paced song and is quite mellow similar to 'Coldplay' but does pick up into a more conventional rock song with good work on the piano towards the end. 'Your Starlight' is a quick song and the guitar work reminds me of early 'Feeder' work. This album shows of a variety of styles, which are all performed successfully. I fell in love with 'Venetian Blinds' the first time I heard it's my favourite song by the 'Future Kings Of Spain' although probably not the best. This is a good first album and shows that the lead singer is very competent in a variety of styles and the music is of a good standard throughout.
