The "slasher" genre seems to have gotten a much needed boost over the past few years, unfortunatly what we got were re makes of my bloody valentine and friday the 13th not really what the horror genre needed, but at the same time it has attracted attention to the genre again which i guess is good. What we have here is a film that looks like it was made in the 80's forgotten about then had a slight touch up here and there, im convinced there was a filter on the camera to give it that proper 80's look also i think i should add, there are alot of static camera angles here and it could be for "artistic reasons" but they just look shoddy,in fact there is a scene with someone talking off camera and what we see is an empty room, explain that one. The actors are unknowns (to me anyway) the girls are the usual pretty bunch but again there are scenes that make no sence, for instance a girls "hotter sister" takes her shirt off whilst the sisters boyfriend is in the room, she isnt in the film again and looks more like a porn star than anything else this isnt a bad thing, but when later parts of the film are rushed i had to think why is this getting so much film time? The story is pretty much usual for this kind of film,i wont really go into detail as it isnt the best but for it does try to do something a little different which is nice. I think alot of people now after films like hostel and saw want to see alot of gore, and while there are sme dodgy camera shots,we get alot of pretty graphic stuff here,a scene where one of the victims gets hacked up looks quite realistic and did make me a little uncomfortable watching it. The acting isnt great but for those who have seen the original slashers from the 70'/80's/90's we all know you dnt expect a huge amount of dept here, the characters do what they have to and it is quite involving to watch. In all it isnt perfect but if like me you are put off by pretty boys and girls being the hero or getting CGI'd to death id give knock knock a shot.
