Customer Review

on 7 May 2013
This book did a very good job of bringing a remote, almost legendary time into the 'here and now', in a very believable way. It was fascinating to encounter the Buddha as a very human being, seeking to navigate his way through the politics and court intrigue, and to enable his fledgling Sangha to survive and flourish. The author has created that most rare of things - a Buddhist page turner! Recommended reading for anyone intrigued by, or sympathetic to the vision of Buddhism espoused by Syephen Batchelor.
