This review is from: Aten 2 Port USB HDMI KVM Switch - Black (Personal Computers)
I originally gave this four stars but after a month I'm dropping my review to two stars. I've now been using this daily with a Mac (Snow Leopard) and a Windows 7 PC, sharing an LG 1080x1920 display (reviewed by me here before), a Logitech K360 wireless unified keyboard, and a Logitech B605 wireless unified mouse, using only one Logitech receiver. I also have a set of Advent USB speakers.
It works mostly as advertised, when switching to the Windows 7 PC I occasionally (once out of 25 times maybe) get a totally black screen, or a screen with just snow. Switching back to the Mac and then to the PC again will almost always work fine.
With the Mac however it's a bit different. If the PC is running, I don't have any problems. However if the PC is shut down or suspended, but still provides power through the USB port, then anything can happen. Usually it copes but often I just get an all blue screen with the Mac. Swapping over to an HDMI cable straight between the Mac and the display (without reconnecting anything else or powering anything off/on) gives a clean picture. Swapping back gives whatever I had before, blue, black, snow. If I power the PC off completely all is fine. So it's definitely not a Mac problem, but an Aten KVM problem.
Despite the above I'm keeping it since I understand its rather annoying niggles. One definitely needs to have a sober attitude to technology to be happy with this device.
