Customer Review

on 21 December 2009
Mr. Assimakis is very scathing about Ferruccio Furlanetto as the Inquisitor in this performance; also about his Philip on another DVD...and I more-or-less agree with him.

It was therefore very interesting to see the bass, now a mature artiste, in the recent television broadcast of the opera from Covent Garden (2009; with Villazon). His Philip is now OUTSTANDING; just a perfect characterisation in every way, from the cruel tyrant to the heartbroken lover. I think this performance is coming out on DVD soon and would urge Mr. Assimakis to take a look; he might be surprisingly impressed!
