Customer Review

on 21 March 2001
In the future, man makes it to Mars and the US and Soviet Union decide they need to have a new cold war on a new frontier. The whole thing is complicated by a "myterious find" in the outback of Mars which requires the investigation of a US Marshal, a Soviet cop, and a has-been newsman. Typical of Mick Farren, outlandish and wildly descriptive with a keen eye towards the more base side of human nature, and what encourages it. Like several of his books, it deals with the end of society as we know it, with a few special people fighting against the odds to claim their own humanity despite the general dissolution of the world around them. Also extremely fun to read, a combination spy thriller, murder mystery, western shoot'em up in space populated with a host of fascinating (and hard drinking) characters.
