"Old Gold" is an absolutely brilliant read, fast-paced and completely absorbing. Set among the mean streets of Wolverhampton the novel shines an unflinching light on modern Britain's very real social problems without either patronising or parodying its characters. In particular the lead character Eoin Miller is someone you just can't help but root for, despite his obvious flaws, and the author very quickly draws you into his world. The supporting cast of characters are equally well-drawn and it is the complex web of their conflicting motivations which pulls you through the story. The story is a delight, well-paced and unpredictable. I can't wait to read the next book!
