This review is from: Philip Glass: Metamorphosis & The Hours (SACD, plays on all CD players) (Audio CD)
I bought this recording after the 3 Glass' recordings by Floraleda Sacchi: Suite en Duo, Minimal Harp and the last one, Metamorphosis, that came out quite at the same time as this release (?!?). As I was enthusiast of latest recording by Sacchi I bought this CD with great expectations. I was deluded. The CD is really good recorded and Lavinia Meijers is playing clearly, but in my opinion Sacchi's CD is much more powerful and also more virtuosistic. The collection of pieces is more various, the 2 tracks overdubbed with a special mix are really original and the whole is much more musical and touching. I felt research and experimentation, instead the Meijer CD is just a performance of Glass music on a harp. What is the interest of such a project? I have to confess I got bored listening to it and not relaxed or mesmerized. So I cannot suggest this CD at all especially after the comparison with the other recording.
